Additionally, the council provides critical feedback on school counseling programming, policy, and initiatives.

Jaco is honored to have been selected and brings over 20 years of knowledge, experience, and leadership abilities to the role.

“I am so excited to be a part of the work of this council. It’s the mission of the group to engage stakeholders with state leaders to increase the capacity of Tennessee school counselors and to provide counseling programs that successfully support student needs. I’m honored to have been selected,” said Jaco.

Assistant Director of Schools Betsi Foster believes that Jaco will represent the district well.

“Congratulations to Mrs. Brittany Jaco on her appointment to the Tennessee School Counseling Advisory Council. The selection committee made a wise choice in inviting her to serve. Mrs. Jaco has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the wellbeing of students above all else. She’s a passionate advocate for student mental health needs, which makes her an essential addition to a council like this. Her perspective on students, families, and the needs of rural areas especially will make her invaluable to that team," stated Foster.

Jaco will serve in the role throughout the 2023-24 School Year.
